Who is Eligible?


1. Be a senior attending a state-accredited public or private high school, or be a home-schooled senior. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen who has resided for a period of not less than two years in an eligible county immediately preceding the application - see map below. The counties are: Caroline, Charles City, Essex, Gloucester, James City (Stonehouse Magisterial District only), King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, Northumberland, Richmond, Westmoreland and York (Bruton Magisterial District only);

2. Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong participation and leadership in school activities and community service. Financial need will be considered. Minimum academic criteria are a 3.5 cumulative GPA and combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1100 or ACT Composite score of 24; and

3. Be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll as a full-time student in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States the following academic year.
